World Science Day for Peace & Development

Hey folks,

Today is World Science Day for peace and development!!! I am on this day compelled to discuss what constitutes science in Mental Health – a discipline I specialize in!!! Something can be called scientific only when multiple methods of experimentation with it yield the same results!! So much for outdated methodologies and terminologies and symptom inventories that come nowhere close to the lived experiences people have with mental health!!! And so much for overly medicalized   explanations pertaining to faulty genes and hormones that don’t honour the lived experiences perspectives pertaining to social paradigms!!! O yes, we need a lot more research from the perspectives based on client-led and user-led paradigms of living a healthy life!!! And the psychiatric survivors can tell us all of what shouldn’t be done while treating clients!!!
