RECOVERY TIP NO.1 - REMIND YOURSELF THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN YOUR PAIN
The key to recovery from a mental health issue is to understand that you are not alone and there are several people sailing in the same boat and that there are people who’ve achieved the peak of success and happiness as also well-being who were where you are now! If they could come out of mental health issues and achieve recovery so can you!! It doesn’t really take a genius to recover from a mental health issue provided you are a part of a positive-minded, recovery-based, capabilities-oriented advocacy group which believes it is possible to attain full recovery even if you are having a severe mental health issue.
The lessons other people learn in their recovery-process could be utilized to catalyse your own recovery. And with that comes a very powerful realization that the power to recover lies in your belief system. And it also depends on what kind of people you associate with. You are the sum of the five people you hang out with and so stick to the right people who have empowering beliefs and aren’t fixated on being ‘mental patients’ or even ‘patients with mental illness’. Never use such words – use empowering words, for, your words become your reality. Your self-talk should be positive.
So try all of what I’ve mentioned above and tell me how it’s worked for you!!! Folks this is Dr. Lavanya Seshasayee for you and have a beautiful day!!!
